Abstract

It is mentioned in article 362 of the criminal code that, “If someone takes away any object that belongs or partly belongs to someone else, with the intention to appropriate it illegally, will be punished because of stealing. Maximum imprisonment if five years or a fine with the maximum of Rp 900,-. One of the crimes of theft that is rife in the community today is the theft of plantation products in the form of oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) at the PTPN V Sei Pagar Plantation, Perhentian Raja District. The formulation of the problem in this study is what are the factors causing the criminal act of palm oil theft at the PTPN V Sei Pagar Plantation, Perhentian Raja District, what are the obstacles in overcoming the case of oil palm theft at the PTPN V Sei Pagar Perhentian Raja plantation and how to overcome the theft case. Palm oil plantations at PTPN V Sei Pagar Plantation, Perhentian Raja District. This type of research is observational research where the technique used is survey or direct fieldwork by interviewing the respondents directly, namely: ASSUM (General Assistant), Head of Security Unit, Security and Community Members. From the results of the research that the authors get, there are several factors that cause perpetrators to commit crimes, namely: economic factors, environmental factors, education factors, law enforcement factors, employment factors. The obstacles in overcoming cases of palm oil theft, namely: Internal barriers where obstacles are based on facilities and infrastructure and budget, while external obstacles are where the perpetrators escape and the lack of witnesses. and as for the efforts to overcome the theft of palm oil carried out by the company, namely, preventive efforts and repressive efforts. One of them is conducting periodic patrols in plantation areas, providing counseling and socialization and processing criminals.
