Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of the use of a jigsaw cooperative learning model on the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu in the academic year 2019/2020. The form of this reseach is experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all eight grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu with a sample of class VIII11 as an experimental class that was treated using a jigsaw type cooperative learning model and clas VIII3 as a control class using a conventional learning model. The sampling technique using purposive sampling (consideration of samples). Data collection took place from February 4, 2020 to February 27, 2020. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out using test techniques. Data were analyzed using inferential analysis which carried out normality test, homogeneity test and t-test. From the results of the study it was found that t-count =2.77 and t-table =1.667, with t-table > t-count. This means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted so that it can be concluded that there is an effect using a jigsaw type cooperative learning model on mathematics learning outcomes for students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu.
