Abstract

Film is one of the works of human art that contains entertainment, education, about messages about life and films can be a powerful tool to educate and indoctrinate the audience. Not infrequently the film shows the atmosphere of life that occurs in the real world. For example, the film’Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini’, which successfully shows life in the family and how dominant the father figure is in the family. The purpose of this research is to find out the storyline and the role of the father in the film ‘Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini’. The method used is a qualitative methodology using the narrative analysis of Tzevetan Torodov. The technique of collecting data from this research is in the form of observation and documentation. The results of this study show the initial plot, middle plot and end plot and display several concepts of the father's role, namely; a) Protect, namely as a provider of protection b) Always provide time for children, namely fathers as friends for children who always give time to them c) Providers, namely as providers and providers of facilities d) Resource, the form of fathers supporting children's success e) Activities together, f) Decision Maker, the father as the decision maker g) Monitor and Disciplinary, namely the father provides supervision to the child, especially when there are early signs of deviation such as a child who often comes home late at night, which is usually not the case and h) Gives a feeling of security for his family members. The conclusion of this research is that the film Later We Tell About Today is a film with a family theme that is full of education, humanity, which describes the role of the father who plays a very important role in the family.
