Abstract

The success or failure of PGI Korwil Riau in attracting public interest must be able to formulate appropriate communication strategies to attract public interest so that they can be interested in participating in every activity. As a way to promote each of its activities, PGI Korwil Riau provides information in the form of documentation or photos of the activities they upload to Instagram. This method can make it easier for people to see what activities will be carried out or have been carried out by PGI Korwil Riau. However, the communication strategy adopted by PGI Korwil Riau was effective only in attracting the interest of existing members to participate in each activity, but it was not effective enough to attract new prospective members to join and participate in every activity. This is because the PGI Korwil Riau is too focused on the interests of hobby or pleasure, while looking for new recruits is slightly neglected. The purpose of this study is to analyze the communication strategy of PGI Korwil Riau in attracting the public to participate in each activity and its inhibiting factors. The research method used is a qualitative method. From the results of the research it is known that the communication strategy of PGI Korwil Riau in promoting mountain tourism objects in Pekanbaru City, the authors draw conclusions, namely the communication strategy carried out by PGI Korwil Riau in promoting mountain tourism objects seen from the communicator strategy, the strategy to determine the audience, the message strategy and the media strategy. This is seen from the lack of interest in other mountain communities who do not join because it is judged by the lack of communication strategies implemented to increase the number of these mountain communities.
