Abstract

The sector of tourism becomes an importance economic activity in a country. Tourism is one of the fields that has an important role in the economic growth of developing countries, including Indonesia. Tourism has the potential to creates jobs and increases income for local communities, if local communities are involved in tourism development and management. PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir is a tourist attraction that has the potential to be developed because it has a strategic location, which is located in 13 Koto Kampar district, Kampar Regency. It is also lovated on the national road on the border of Riau and West Sumatra Provinces. The purpose of this study was to identified the condition of the facilities and infrastructure in PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir using a quantitative qualitative descriptive method with a Likert scale calculation. And the strategy for developing Koto Panjang hydropower reservoir tourism object was by using a SWOT analysis. This study used secondary data sources in the form of supporting documents and primary data in the form of field observations, interviews with stakeholders, and distributing questionnaires involving 100 respondents. The results of the analysis obtained regarding the condition of the road infrastructure scored 64%, for the condition of the clean water infrastructure a score of 74%, for the condition of the telecommunications network infrastructure a score of 77%, for the condition of the waste system infrastructure a score of 47%, for the condition of the drainage infrastructure a score of 54 %, for the condition of the tourist information office got a score of 58%. And the results of the analysis obtained regarding the condition of transportation facilities got a score of 63%, for restaurant and restaurant facilities a score of 58%, for parking facilities a score of 58%, for places of worship a score of 59%, for toilet facilities a score of 64%, for dock facilities scored 56%. And the results of the analysis of the formulation of the strategy for developing the Koto Panjang PLTA Reservoir tourism object are: a) development of public infrastructure, public facilities and tourism facilities, b) development of accessibility or transportation, c) development of tourist markets and tourist information, d) development of tourist attractions.
