Abstract

Drilling will be a lot of possibilities of damage and natural fractures in each formation. Loss circulation causes the optimal process of cutting lifting to the surface, which causes cutting only swirling at the bottom of the well, if left continuously will have an impact on hole cleaning, cutting accumulates at the bottom of the well that will lead to other problems that are stuck pipe. The use of aerated drilling method in drilling can cause drilling fluid pressure to be balanced with formation pressure, so that it can optimally clean the well and can lift cutting to the surface. Wells that have experienced loss circulation that has previously been applied aerated drilling method but the results are not efficient, then will be evaluated and optimized by increasing the rate of air pumping from the use of aerated drilling method, where the cleanliness of the well hole will be seen from the value of cutting concentration (Cc), Transport cutting ratio (Ft), Annuluar velocity (Vann), Net rise velocity and Critical slip velocity (Vmin) as parameters that affect cutting in geothermal wells. After evaluation at the Sorik Marapi geothermal field by increasing the rate of air pumping, the criteria that stated that the cleaning of the well hole is good can be seen from the value of Vann > Vmin which is 383.53 fpm > 146.19 fpm, 402.39 fpm > 148.89 fpm, 373.12 fpm > 152.11 fpm and net rise velocity of positive value at each depth. Cutting concentration is said to be good if the level of flakes in the well hole < 5% and Transport cutting ratio cutting is said to be good if ≥ 80% and works optimally if ≥ 90%, the results from the evaluation obtained values from Cc meet the criteria of 0.05%, 0.05% and 0.06% and Ft worth 83%, 84% and 83%.But to get the optimal Ft value of ≥ 90%, optimization is necessary so that it is known the large rate of air pumping that must be added is 3315.1 scfm.
