Abstract

Disability accessibility is the extent to which people with disabilities can enter or access objects, services or environments. Accessibility features themselves also focus on facilities that facilitate people with disabilities. This study aims to find out and analyze the accessibility of people with disabilities in Public Transportation Trans Metro Pekanbaru. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data obtained through Interviews, Observations, Documentation. In the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number: KM.71 Year 1999 On Accessibility for People with Disabilities and Sick People in Transportation Facilities and Infrastructure, Accessibility itself is defined as an ease provided for people with disabilities and sick people in order to realize the similarity of opportunities in all aspects of life and livelihood. Explained also in article 6 Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number: KM.71 Year 1999 on road transport infrastructure that is special facilities and services that must be provided, but from the results of this research pekanbaru city itself has not succeeded in applying the facilities in question to people with disabilities due to the uneven implementation of facilities and infrastructure supporting the accessibility of Public Transportation Trans Metro Pekanbaru even though the pekanbaru city government itself is also has promised to provide facilities for people with disabilities in carrying out their lives it is stipulated in the Riau Province Regional Regulation No. 18 of 2013 on the protection and empowerment of people with disabilities. Facilities are not used as well as supporting facilities such as slopes are still few for people with disabilities plus the paradigm of people with disabilities is still more comfortable using private vehicles because they do not yet know the facilities provided by the government and feel awkward with people around due to physical limitations experienced.
