Abstract

Corrosion is one of some problems that occurs in tubing of oil and gas production wells. It causes a decrease in the flow rate of oil production becomes leaking. Several chemical inhibitors are used for corrosion problems and several studies are currently developing organic-based inhibitors to overcome these corrosion problems. Ginger rhizome is an organic material that has high antioxidant and phenolic compounds. So that, it can be used to solve the corrosion problems. This study discusses the effect of ginger extract inhibitors on corrosion, where the corrosion rate is calculated by the Weight loss method and uses a volume variation of 2 ml, 4 ml , and 6 ml and time variations of 48, 96, and 144 hours to see the effect of ginger extract inhibitor on corrosion rate and inhibitor efficiency. Based on the research conducted, it was found that the ginger extract inhibitor had an effect on the corrosion rate and efficiency where the lowest corrosion rate was found at 48 hours of immersion, namely 6.26 (mmpy), the lowest corrosion rate was 4.72 (mmpy) immersion. the lowest corrosion rate at 144 hours immersion is 2.01 (mmpy), the lowest inhibitor efficiency value at 48 hours immersion is 67.31%, at 96 hours immersion the lowest inhibitor efficiency value is 92.53%, and at 144 hours immersion the efficiency value is the lowest is 79.46%.
