Abstract
The cementing process in drilling activities is one of the work activities that require large costs, both in terms of the cost of cementing or the materials for making cement suspensions in the oil field. The current increase in the price of cement in the market to cause the manufacture of cement suspensions also affects the increase in the cost of cementing oil and gas wells, so a strategy is needed to reduce costs in the manufacture of cement suspensions. This strategy uses additive materials that are more economical and environmentally friendly. One of them is coconut shell, which is a solid waste produced from plantation land. This test tested the strength of cement by adding coconut shell carbon additives with various concentrations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% & 4% BWOC. Tests for shear bond strength and compressive strength were carried out using a hydraulic press From the compressive strength and shear bond strength tests, the optimum value was obtained at the same concentration, namely at 3% with a CS value of 1511.87 psi and an SBS value of 245.81 psi. The increase in values in the CS and SBS tests was due to carbon being one of the pozzolanic materials. Carbon will be reactive when combined with calcium and water.
