Abstract

Social media is a medium for someone to exchange information, one of which is information related to tourist objects. With the existence of social media, one can get information or reviews about other people's travel experiences online, this is of course a material consideration for someone to visit these attractions, which will later affect a person's decision to visit one of the attractions in Pekanbaru City (Asia Farm, Asia Heritage, Taman Agrowisata Tenayan Raya, Desa Wisata Okura, dan Taman Rekresi Alam Mayang). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social media on the decision to visit tourists to tourist attractions in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. In this study, the data used was in the form of perceptions of tourists visiting tourist objects in Pekanbaru City, the data was obtained through the distribution of questionnaires distributed online on the researcher's social media, so that there were 105 respondents. These data are used to determine the effect of social media on visiting decisions which will be processed using several analyzes including quantitative descriptive analysis, scoring analysis using a Likert scale and path analysis using SPSS which consists of instrument testing, normality test, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the most widely used type of social media to obtain information related to tourist attractions in Pekanbaru City was Instagram, where the average user was students aged 20-29 years. The level of use of social media and the level of decision to visit tourists in Pekanbaru City are 80% and 70% which are in the high category. In addition, social media simultaneously influences the decision to visit where, if one promotion is carried out through social media, it will affect the decision to visit tourists by 61.4%. So it can be concluded that social media influences the decision to visit tourists to tourist objects in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province.
