Abstract

Pekanbaru City is a city that has historical and cultural heritage. It can be seen from the existence of old buildings and historical stories. Historical and cultural heritage buildings are located in Senapelan District, precisely in Kampung Bandar Village, where there is no information related to historical and cultural buildings, there are no special regulations for the cultural heritage of Pekanbaru City as a legal basis and the efforts to develop the historical and cultural building area have not been optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics and development of historical and cultural tourism objects of Taman Tuan Kadi, Istana Sampaip, and Rumah Tinggi in Pekanbaru City so that obstacles were found in carrying out development in order to increase the target of tourist visits. This research uses descriptive qualitative analysis method with purposive informant sampling technique. The source of research data is based on interviews and field observations. The analytical technique in identifying the characteristics and development of historical and cultural buildings, internal factors and external factors uses qualitative analysis with interviews and field observations. The results of this study are the identification of Tangible and Intangible characteristics of Tuan Kadi Tourism Objects, the Perch Palace and the High House. Internal factors and external factors with data processing using SWOT. Six informants were interviewed, namely the Head of the Culture and Tourism Office, Bappeda, Academics, Historian, LAM, and Historic Building Owners. Then there is the physical direction of historical and cultural buildings with development activities. Based on the results of the study, it is expected that managers will be able to maintain, preserve and care for tourist objects as historical and cultural heritage, providing breakthrough attractions as other attractions. The government is expected to play an active role in increasing the tourism object of tourism as cultural tourism.
