Abstract

The function of the area that leads to a profit market also threatens the sustainability of the residential area in Sukaramai Village, Pekanbaru City. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of quality of settlements in Sukaramai Village by using an eco-settlement approach and criteria. Eco-settlement is an ecological place to live which was developed from the concept of sustainable development by taking into account 4 aspects including ecological, economic, social aspects and supported by capable institutions/institutions. The research method used is the mix method. By using a household sample of 90 respondents conducted through field observations, questionnaires and interviews. The results of the analysis through scoring analysis obtained an eco value of 52.38% and included in the semi-eco-settlement categorization. This shows the increasing efforts to improve the environment carried out by the government even though the weight is still close to the category of not ecosettlement. The low eco value is influenced by ecological aspects that have a low weight such as the unavailability of drainage on both sides of the road and the absence of a biopore system to absorb water into the ground so that puddles always occur when it rains because the drainage is not able to drain runoff water, the management of the sanitation system has not environmentally friendly and the lack of vegetation (protective trees) caused by limited residential areas filled with built-up land.
