Abstract

Research was conducted in Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra Province which is located at coordinates 0 40 3.9623-037 21.1758" South Latitude and 99 42 16.4151 "-99 44' 58.1227" East Longitude. Regionally, Mandailing Natal Regency is located in the mountains of the Bukit Barisan which is a volcanic bus, and the existence of structures in the area is identified. The purpose of this study was to determine the geomorphological unit of the study area, to determine the geological structure that developed in the study area by analyzing ridge straightness data using DEMNAS data and data obtained from previous researchers (Secondary Data). To determine the forces that shape structural patterns and in the research, as well as knowing the tectonic processes that develop in the research area. The method used was secondary data collection from previous geological mapping The results obtained after the analysis had 4 geomorphological units, 2 flow patterns, 56% of the dominant ridge straightening direction was northeast-southwest, Interpretation of fault with DEMNAS with result 6 faults. The total number of burly is 61 stations. Fault analysis shows that there are 4 normal faults and tectonic phase of stress that work, namely southeast-northwest at the late Oligocene-early Miocene age.
