Abstract

Steam turbine is an energy conversion machine that can convert steam kinetic energy into mechanical energy on the turbine shaft which is then converted into electrical energy through a generator. In steam turbines, damage is often found, one of which is the steam turbine blade which drives the turbine engine. Damage to the steam turbine blades is due to the erosion of the turbine blades, where the erosion that occurs in the turbine blades is caused by a steam pressure of 18 kg/cm 2 , so that the type of material used by the turbine blades cannot withstand the pressure exerted by the steam on the blades. turbine for a longer period of time. Therefore, this study aims to determine the damage that occurs to the turbine blades by using finite element software . The results obtained that the material that is safe to use for steam turbines is Inconel 625 with an Alternating Stress value of 648 MPa from a Yield Strength value of 655, while the material used in the company's specimen is Inconel 718 with an Alternating Stress value of 647 MPa from a Yield Strength value of 648 MPa.
