Abstract

Over time, technology is growing, especially in the field of car transportation. The most efficient fuel today is the fuel cell. A fuel cell is an electrochemical conversion device for generating electricity from the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen. Bipolar plate is one of the most important and most expensive parts and has the disadvantage of being brittle. This research was conducted to compare the value of electrical conductivity, microstructure and flexural strength of the conductor plate which is expected to be a reference in the development of energy materials in the future. In this study, tests were carried out which included electrical conductivity tests, microstructural observations and calculations of the flexural strength of each sample. The conductor plate with the composition of KG 60% - RE 40%, KG 70% - RE 30% and KG 80% - RE 20% (volume fraction) was obtained by cold pressing compression at a pressure of five (6) tons. From the results of this study, it was found that the high electrical conductivity value in sample three (3) with a composition ratio of 80:20 with a value of 50 S.cm-1 and samples that had flexural strength according to DOE standards were obtained in the third sample which had flexural strength values. below the 21.9 MPA standard.
