Abstract

Abstract Interpersonal Communication Counseling Guidance Teacher and Deaf Students at SLB Negeri Pembina Pekanbaru Nico Hadinata Udjung NPM: 169110061 This study aimed to explain and provide analysis of interpersonal communication by teacher of guidance and counseling and deaf students in SLB Negeri Pembina Pekanbaru. In this study, the main focus is process of interpersonal communication on counseling guidance activities done by teacher of guidance and counseling with deaf students. This study uses a qualitative method which in the main purpose is to get an understanding of the social reality of the participant’s perspective. The informants in this study consisted of Elfayanti, M.Pd as the teacher of guidance and counseling in SLB Negeri Pembina Pekanbaru, Rahmad Junaidi, A.Md and Habibah, S.Pd who are the teacher of computer and seawing skills at SLB Negeri Pembina Pekanbaru, the last are two deaf students with initials TA and CP who became the informants of the observation related to the study title. The selection of informants is determined through the Purposive Sampling technique. The result of this study indicate that counseling and guidance activities have a major effect on personal development of deaf students. Interpersonal communication by the teacher of guidance and counseling with deaf students in the guidance and counseling activities is able to direct students to think positively about themselves without feeling ashamed of their shortcomings.
