Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning of mixed ensembles in art and culture subjects in class IX at SMPN 5 Siak Hulu Kampar. The focus of this study is the problems associated with the learning process of mixed ensembles in class IX at SMPN 5 Siak Hulu. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Sources of data in this study consisted of primary data sources and secondary data sources. Data obtained through: 1) interview; 2) observation; and 3) documentation. The activities carried out were small group practice activities in the classroom using pianica instruments and recorders who also played the song Ibu Kita Kartini. The purpose of this study was to find out how the implementation of mixed ensemble learning in class IX at Siak Hulu Middle School 5 2019/2020 school year. Learning activities carried out with 2 meetings, at the first meeting learning activities using scientific methods, questions and answers, interviews, discussions and role playing. At the second meeting the students practiced playing music in front of the class.
