Abstract

The study aims to analyze the factors that affect the agency cost of consumer goods companies listed on the indonesia stock exchange for the period 2016 – 2020. Independent variables used are dividend policy, capital structure, size, managerial ownership, and institutionl ownership. Dependet variable used is agency cost which is proxied using selling and general administrative ratio. Sample selection using purposive sampling technique with certain criteria needed in the study. Data analysis using Ms.exel 2007 and Eviews 9. The regression used in this study is panel data regression. The selected panel data regression model is fixed effect. The results obtained indicate that dividend policy has a positive and significant effect on agency costs, capital structure as proxied using the debt to equity ratio has a negative and significant effect on agency cost. Meanwhile, firm rize and manajerial ownership have no effect on agency cost and institutional ownership has a negative but not significant effect on agency costs.
