Abstract

This research aims to make teaching materials based on electronic modules or e-module concerning the conservation of Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus Temminck) in the Tesso Nilo National Park, Riau. This research is a type of research development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model. Data is collected from February-July 2020 in Tesso Nilo National Park and Biology Education Study Program FKIP UIR. The subjects of this study were 35 students who took biodiversity conservation courses, while the subjects in collecting data on the conservation of Sumatran elephants consisted of 10 mahouts and 30 people living around the Tesso Nilo National Park area. The research method uses interviews, FGDs, validation sheets and response questionnaires. The results of research for the conservation of Sumatran Elephants show that there are 3 elephant conservation efforts carried out by the government by making "Urgent Action Plans", making role models by the National Park Agency in efforts to manage the National Park area and forming an elephant patrol team by WWF Indonesia. Research data obtained from validation sheets assessed by media experts, material experts, and lecturers of courses, and the response questionnaire obtained from the product trial results to students. The results of this study indicate that the quality of eligibility e-module teaching materials based on the results of validation by media experts included in the very feasible category with an average percentage of 91.98%. The results of the validation of material experts get an average percentage of 93.22% (very feasible), and the results of validation by the lecturer of biodiversity conservation courses got an average percentage of 98.81% also with a very feasible category. The results of trials on 35 students get an average percentage of 94.11% also with a very good category. Based on these categories, it can be concluded that the e-module teaching materials developed are feasible to use.
