Abstract

This study aims to determine the meanings of signs, indexes, and symbols contained in health warnings on cigarette packs in Indonesia using Charles S. Peirce's semiotics. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research subjects in this study were health warning images on cigarette packs in Indonesia. In this study, data collection was carried out by humans, namely the researchers themselves. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of Observation and Documentation. Analysis of the data in this study. Researchers dissect the images and the language that is then analyzed using the semiotic analysis of Charles Sanders Pierce's model. After that, draw conclusions to obtain the meaning and significance of the sign that is more in-depth and broad on the results of the research conducted. The results of research and discussion on Semiotic Analysis of Health Warning Images on Cigarette Packs In Indonesia, it is known that the Sign (Representament), the display that is displayed tends to be closer so that it allows consumers to clearly see the object displayed. In terms of objects on cigarette packs, most of them use objects as victims of the effects of smoking, except for data 2 which if it lights up on babies. Interpreter, From the overall interpretation data that can be taken is the dangers of smoking behavior by taking the consequences.
