Abstract

The reality on the ground shows that there are still many uses of cohesion in literary works which are considered less important as the perfection of a discourse. This happens because the writers lack understanding of the importance of cohesion in the perfection of a discourse. Cohesion is the combination of one preposition with another. Cohesion greatly determines the perfection of a discourse. This research discusses cohesion in the Novel Misses The Prophet By Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The purpose of this study is: (1) to describe, analyze, and unterpret the use of cross-cohesion in novel Misses The Prophet By Habiburrahman El Shirazy, and (2) to describe, analyze, and unterpret the use ofconnection cohesion in novel Misses The Prophet By Habiburrahman El Shirazy. This research includes library research. The file source of this research is novel Misses The Prophet By Habiburrahman El Shirazy published in 2018 by the publisher Republika. Published in Jakarta, which consists of 14 chapters, with a amount of 176 pages. This research file in the form of cohesion in the novel Misses The Prophet By Habiburrahman El Shirazy. File collection is done by mean of documentation and using hermeneutics. The collected file is identified, then analyzed the types of cohesion and accuracy of use. From the analysis of the file it can be concluded that serveral things, firsly cross-cohesion includes: reference, substitution, ellipsis, formal repetition, and elegant variation. Connection cohesion in the form of:conjunctions. Second, the use of cross-cohesion and connection cohesion has been used appropriately based on well-established and well-written rules.
