Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of using of cooperative learning model based on Van Hiele’s theory on students’ problem solving ability class VII Junior High School 2 Kuala Cenaku school year 2019/2020. The form of research conducted is quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control grup design. Population in this study were all students of class VII Junior High School 2 Kuala Cenaku with sampel class VIIB as the experimental class who were treated using cooperative learning model based on Van Hiele’s theory and class VIIA as the control classs that uses conventional learning. The technique of determining the sample using purposive sampling. Data retrieval started from 29 January 2020 until 20 February 2020. Data collection technique in this study conducted by a test technique. The data were analyzed using inferential statistics. From the research results obtained Zcount =0,844 dan −Ztable =−1,65, so that Zcount > −Ztable, then H1 is rejected dan H0 is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of cooperative learning model based on Van Hiele’s theory on students’ problem solving ability class VII Junior High School 2 Kuala Cenaku that there is an increase in students’ problem solving ability
