Abstract

This research is the background of the meaning relation in the editorial of the Riau Pos daily newspaper. The editorial is the main composition of the editor's view of what is a hot topic in the community. Based on this background, the problem in this study can be formulated, namely, what are the meaning relations in the editorial of the Riau Pos daily newspaper? This study was designed to describe, analyze, interpret, and understand the relation of meaning contained in the editorial of the Riau Pos daily newspaper. This type of research is a qualitative research with content analysis method (content analysis). The theory used in semantic research from Chaer (2013), Djajasudarma (2013) and Tarigan (2009). The research method used is qualitative research. The results of the analysis of the relation of meaning in the editorial of the Riau Pos daily newspaper is synonymy, there are 15 data such as the words 'period' and 'period'. Antonimi There are 7 data such as 'empty' and 'filled in'. Hoponimi and hypernimi there are 7 data such as the word 'liar'. There are 12 data polysemics such as the word 'owned'. Redundancy 1 data obtained is the word 'then to'. The relation of meaning that is not found in the editorial of the Riau Pos daily newspaper is the relationship between homonymy and ambiguity, because there are no sentences containing two or more meanings. Sequentially, no highest relation of meaning is found, namely synonymy, polysemy, antonymy, hyponymy and hypernimi and which comprise the lowest redundancy contained in the editorial of the Riau Pos daily newspaper.
