Abstract

This study aims to determine how the Role of the Office of Environmental Management in the Supervision of Factory Waste in Indragiri Hulu Regency and to determine the obstacles in the Role of the Department of the Environment in Supervision of Factory Waste. Indicators on the role used include norms, individuals in society as organizations, social structures. This type of research located in Indragiri Hulu Regency uses a qualitative method, which is a study that makes humans as research instruments and adjusted to the situation in the field in relation to data collection which is generally qualitative in nature and is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of words written or verbal words from people and observable behavior. Determination of informants in this study using purposive sampling technique. Purposive sampling is a data source data retrieval technique with certain considerations ie the data source is considered to know the most about what is expected, making it easier for researchers to explore objects or social situations that are being studied. Data collection techniques used consisted of observations, interviews, and documentation, the data collected was then used as the main raw material for analyzing the empirical conditions of the objectivity of the existence of research objectives at the location under study. Based on the technical analysis above, the researcher assessed and concluded that the role of the Department of the Environment in Supervision of Factory Waste has not been overcome because of the lack of the role of DLH in handling factory waste.
