Abstract

research area is at coordinates 100°48'20.00"E- 100°45'0.00"E and 0°18'53.00"LS-0°16'58.00"LS. Administratively, including along the causeway of West Sumatra Province and Riau Province, especially the Tanjung Alai area, XIII Koto Kampar District, Kampar Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine several geological aspects, namely to determine the types of rocks in the research area, to determine the distribution of rocks in the research area, to determine the microstructure that developed in the research area. The method used is starting from field sampling, rock description, petrographic analysis, micro-structure analysis. Based on petrological analysis, the research area is divided into 2 lithologies, namely sandstone and claystone. In petrography, there are 2 lithologies, namely quartzite with brownish-gray xpl color, colorless ppl, non-foliated (granulose) structure, granoblastic texture. Filite with colorless ppl, gray xpl, foliated structure (philitic), granolepidoblastic texture. Microstructural analysis showed foliation from 4 stations consisting of foliation directions, namely 3 stations with a southeast-northwest direction and 1 station with a northeast-southwest direction. Then, the microstructure of the cracks at station 2 is trending northwest-southeast, stations 3 and 4 are trending northeast-southwest, and station 5b is trending north-south. Lithological distribution consists of two rocks, namely phyllite which is spread in the southeastern part of the study area, while quartzite is spread in the southwest-northeast, north and northwest part of the study area
