Abstract

This research aims to determine the ability of students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in solving problems on the matter of the respiratory system material in class XI MIPA SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan academic year 2020/2021. This research is descriptive research. The instruments used are Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), interview guidelines and documentation. The samples of this study were students of class XI MIPA 1, XI MIPA 2, XI MIPA 3, XI MIPA 4, and XI MIPA 5 at SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan as many as 76 students. The results showed that the students' higher order thinking skills in class XI MIPA 1, XI MIPA 2, XI MIPA 3, XI MIPA 4, and XI MIPA 5 SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan were in the low category with a percentage of 58.43%. From the higher order thinking skills on the analyzing indicator (C4) it was found that the average percentage was 53.12% in the low category, on the evaluating indicator (C5) it was found an average of 67.2% in the medium category. While the indicator of creating (C6) found an average percentage of 54.98% in the low category.
