Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of changes in the symptoms of autism in children who carry out the Casein Free Gluten Free (CFGF) diet. This study involved 18 samples, namely children from SLB Pelita Nusa and Pekanbaru Bina Mandiri Park Therapy Center who were diagnosed with autism by a Psychologist and selected using purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used is the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) consisting of 14 aspects and the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) scale which consists of 3 aspects. The results showed that the decrease in autism symptoms was in line with the decrease in the amount of gluten and casein consumption. If the consumption of gluten and casein decreases, the symptoms of autism also decrease, and vice versa. The number of symptoms of autism decreased from the first week to the third week was 0.91, the highest symptom decreased was the symptom of activity degree of 0.28 and the lowest was the symptom of fear and anxiety of 0.03. The highest diet decreased was the hidden gluten diet of 8.73 and the lowest was the casein diet of 2.89. This implies that the Casein Free Gluten Free (CFGF) diet is effective in reducing the symptoms of autism in the subjects studied in this study.
