Abstract

Reading is a process to obtain information and knowledge, but in fact the problems that accur in student’s low reading skills can be overcome by the formation of the GLS. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence and barriers of the School Literacy Movement Program on Students’ Reading Interest at SDIT Insa Utama 2 Pekanbaru. This study uses a quantitative approach. The sample of this study amounted to 49 students. The instruments used in this study were aquestionnaires and interviews. To determine th effect oh the school literacy movement program on students’ reading interest at SDIT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru, the researchers used sample regression data analysis. Test the validity of the data with validity and reliability tests. From the results of the study, it was found that the literacy movement program on students’ reading interest at SDIT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru, with rxy = 0,565, r²xy = 0,320, and the value of tcount (4,700) > ttable (2,011) menaing that there wa an influence of the school literacy movement program on reading interest by significant. The obstacles that accur in the implementation of the literacy movement program at SDIT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru are students who are lazy to read, are constrained in a concise learning system, and the incompatibility of natural resources in managing the library.
