Abstract
One of the impacts of technological development in Indonesia is the higher lifestyles among adolescents which encourage the emergence of consumptive behavior. As adolescents who are very influenced by peers, in order to be accepted by the group and to impulse teens participating in the rules of the group, so this will strengthen the emergence of conformity in adolescents. The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between conformity and consumptive behavior on adolescents in Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru. The population of this study is adolescents in Bukit Raya District with a total of 17.176 adolescents, and 336 adolescents are taken as samples. The research data is taken by using a scale of conformity and the scale of consumptive behavior. The sampling technique in this study uses cluster sampling technique. While the statistical analysis used in this research is product moment correlation. The study result indicates that there is a positive significant correlation between conformity and consumptive behavior of (r=0.169, p<0,05). The effective contribution of conformity towards consumptive behavior is 29%.
