Abstract
The study was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. Conducted for 4 months from January to April 2019. The research objective was to determine the effect of various types of mulch and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth and production of shallots. The study used a Factorial Complete Randomized Design. The first factor of various types of mulch (M) consists of 4 levels, namely without mulch, reeds, rice straw, and silver black plastic. The second factor is NPK 16:16:16 (N) consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 15, 30, 45g / plot to obtain 16 treatment combinations. Each treatment combination consisted of 3 replications, so that 48 experimental units were obtained. Each plot consisted of 25 plants and 5 were sampled. The parameters observed were plant height, harvest age, number of tubers, wet tuber weight of the tuber, dry weight of the tuber perump, tuber weight per tuber, tuber shrinkage weight, and tuber wrap. Observation data were analyzed statistically and continued with BNJ further tests at the 5% level. The results showed the interaction of various types of mulch and NPK 16:16:16 significantly in plant height, number of tuber tubers, wet tuber weight of tubers, tuber dry weight of tubers, tuber weight per tuber, tuber weight shrinkage, and tuber girth. The best treatment is a combination of rice straw and NPK 16:16:16 45 g / plot. Various types of mulch were evident on the parameters of plant height, harvest age, number of tuber tubers, wet weight of tuber tubers, dry weight of tuber tubers, tuber weight per tuber, and tuber wrap with the best treatment of rice straw. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 was evident on plant height, harvest age, number of tuber tubers, wet weight of tuber tubers, dry weight of tuber tubers, tuber weight per tuber, and tuber gaps with the best treatment of 45 g / plot.
