Abstract

Research on the Influence of Pollination Method on the Production of Purple Eggplant Plants (Solanum melongena L.), has been carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jln. Kaharuddin Nasution KM 113, Kelurahan Air Dingin, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, Riau. The study was conducted for 4 months, starting from November 2018 to February 2019. The purpose of this study was to find out how to pollinate the production of purple eggplant plants (Solanum melongena L.). This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 1 Factor, namely pollination method consisting of 3 treatments namely A = Naturally, B = Without the help of insects and C = Assisted by Heterotrigona itama. From each treatment, it was repeated 4 times so that there were 12 experimental units, each experiment unit contained 6 plants per plot and 3 plants were sampled, so that the total number of plants was 72 plants. The parameters observed were flowering age, number of flowers, number of fruits, percentage of flowers to fruit, weight of fruit per plant, number of seeds per fruit, and flower biorhythms. Observation data were statistically analyzed and tested further at the BNJ level of 5%. The results showed that the method of pollination on purple eggplant plants affected the parameters of the number of fruit, the percentage of flowers to fruit, weight of fruit per plant, and number of seeds per fruit. Where the best treatment is pollination with the help of bees Heterotrigona itama.
