Abstract

This study aims to determine: Characteristics of guava farmers, guava cultivation technology, the influence of factors of production on productivity of guava farming, sources of risk of guava production and the influence of factors of production on production risk in guava farming. This study used a survey method conducted from April to September 2019. Respondents were taken in a census, consisting of 31 farmers. Data collection is done through direct interviews with questionnaire tools. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively, the cobb-douglas production function was transformed into a natural logarithm and a productivity variance function. The results showed that farmers were of productive age, farmers had quite high education, farmers were quite experienced in farming, and the number of family members that could be fulfilled. The cultivation techniques used by guava farmers include land preparation, planting hole planting, planting, maintaining, and harvesting. Production risk can occur due to the influence of external factors that are difficult to control by farmers such as: weather, pest and disease attacks and internal factors such as: seed quality, fertilizer quality and human resources. Production inputs with positive parameter coefficients can increase guava productivity in the form of NPK fertilizer, TSP fertilizer, pesticides and labor. While the input of production with a negative parameter coefficient can reduce the productivity of guava in the form of the number of seeds, manure and KCl fertilizer. However only pesticides and labor variables have a significant effect of 5% on the productivity of guava. The value of the negative coefficient on the variance of productivity is known to be the number of seeds, manure, KCl fertilizer, factors that cause a decrease in production risk (risk reducing factors). While factors such as NPK fertilizer, TSP fertilizer, pesticides, and labor become factors that cause increased risk of production (risk inducing factors). However, only the variable labor factor that has a real influence level of 5% on the risk of guava production.
