Abstract

Illegal drugs crime isn't only committed by adults, the number of children also have been found to be engaged in this crime both as a victim or offender. Living conditions, unhealthy social circles, and lack of affection from parents and family are the main factors that brought the children to be involved in this crime. Illegal drugs trafficking and abuse have been reported to increase significantly in Pekanbaru, due to its location as the main gate of Sumatera's mainland shipping cross. This research was done using the qualitative method, it aims to describe the factors that caused children's complicity in illegal drugs abuse. Based on direct observation on the child custody related to drugs crime, the Author's concluded that the main factors that push the children to commit illegal drugs crime arewrong social circle and lack of parental attention. The lack of parental attention, in this case, is divided into two kinds of abandonment. They are abandonment due to the absence of parents, and the abandonment due to parents' busy working life hence can't taking control of their children's social circle.
