Abstract

Broiler chicken business requires large capital to purchase Day Old Chicken (DOC) and feed. DOC and feed prices tend to increase, thus affecting the income of farmers. The purpose of this study was to analyze (1) the characteristics of breeders and business profiles and (2) the income of broiler breeders in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City. The method used is a survey method. Purposive Sampling of broiler breeders is 40 farmers. The analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis and farm analysis. The results showed an average of broiler breeders in Rumbai Subdistrict had 36 years of age, 9 years of education, 3 family farmer members and 3 years experience in farming, individual company body shape, business capital of Rp 212,191,232, and cage area an average of 616.53 m2. The total cost per production used by broiler breeders is IDR 151,615,198.37, the average acceptance of broiler breeders is IDR 154,352,437.50 per production, the average income of broiler chicken farmers is IDR 6,424,572.46 per production. The RCR of broiler breeders is 1.02, which means the business is worth the effort. Production BEP is 5,619.90 kg and BEP Price is Rp 18,171.93, which means the business will reach BEP when the farmer sells 5,619.90 kg at a price of Rp 18,171.93.
