Abstract
Kampar Kiri Hilir District is one of the producers of watermelons in Kampar Regency. This study aims to 1. Know the characteristics of farmers and watermelon cultivation techniques in Kampar Kiri Hilir District. 2 Analyze the use of factors of production, cost, and watermelon production in Kampar Kiri Hilir District. 3 Analyzing revenue, efficiency and Break Even Point (BEP) from watermelon farming in Kampar Kiri Hilir District. The method used in this study is a survey method. Sampling was carried out by census directly to farmers using a questionnaire, where the number of samples 32 of all watermelon farmers from three villages namely Sungai Pagar Village, Sungai Petai Village and Mentulik Village. in Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data is data obtained directly from farmers and secondary data obtained from relevant agencies. The results showed that the characteristics of watermelon farmers with an average age of 42.81 years, average length of education of farmers 9.31 years, experience of farmers an average of 10.81 years, the number of dependents of business families on average 4.28 inhabitants. For some stages of cultivation from land management to maintenance is not in accordance with the recommendations, but for some other technologies such as harvest and post-harvest are in accordance with the recommendations. Total variable costs Rp.13,148,766, Total fixed costs Rp1,292,781, total costs Rp.14,441,547. The average price sold by farmers is Rp. 1,308 / Kg / arable / MT. watermelon farm production produced by farmers amounted to 19,466 kg / MT, Gross income of Rp. 25,457,388 arable / MT. Net income of Rp. 10,713,594 arable / MT. RCR of 1.86. BEP units are 11,041 kg and BEP prices are Rp. 742.00.
