Abstract
The diplomatic representation building is protected under the Vienna Convention of 1961 in its use as a place to support diplomatic mission activities between countries that have immunity and cannot be contested. The recipient country must take the necessary steps to protect and prevent any disturbance or riots that can disturb the mission's peace and reduce its dignity and status, even though the recipient country is in a state of international or non-international armed conflict, the recipient country must protect, respect and maintain the building diplomatic representatives along with their goods and files. The main research problem that will be discussed by the author is how the implementation of legal protection of diplomatic representative buildings in conflict areas according to the 1961 Vienna Convention and how the legal status of diplomatic representative buildings in conflict areas. The research method that I use is a normative legal research method, namely legal research carried out by examining library material or secondary data, where the library material is intended to identify concepts of principles and legal principles. In this case the author will conduct legal research on the perspective of international law. The results of research conducted by the author are the implications regarding the protection of diplomatic buildings contained in Article 22 of the 1961 Vienna Convention, the recipient country not only has the obligation to protect diplomatic representative buildings, but also the environmental conditions that are outside the diplomatic building and Article 1 (i) of the 1961 Vienna Convention it clearly provides a limitation that representative buildings are buildings and their parts and the land on which they are built. Status of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) is currently still activating a representative office in Damascus even though it has entered the status of Alert III, this is because there are still many Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are in Syria.
