Abstract

Waqf is a form of worship that provides many benefits to Muslims. One of the waqf institutions which participates in the management and development of waqf is Laznas Dompet Dhuafa Riau. In managing and developing waqf, the main things are waqf collection and waqf distribution. The problem formulation of this study: how is the management and development of waqf in Laznas Dompet Dhuafa Riau?. While the aim of this study is to investigate the management and development of waqf in Laznas Dompet Dhuafa Riau. The framework of this study is the process of collecting waqf funds from prospective donors and distributing the benefits of waqf to reach the waqf receivers. The type of this study is qualitative research with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. Then the data are analyzed by using data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of interviews with the managers of Social Program, Da'wah & Networking and Marketing Communication & Retail Fundraising in Laznas Dompet Dhuafa Riau, it can be concluded that the waqf management is carried out by collecting waqf funds which all indicators are running well such as: collection reports, good service, diversity of donors, waqf products, and promotional strategies to attract the attention of potential donors. While the management of waqf development is through the distribution of waqf to receivers, whereas the determination of the receivers is in accordance with the policies of waqf institution, the strategies in preparing target locations of waqf, the mechanism for empowerment program of waqf and monitoring as well as evaluation from the institution and the community. The suggestions for Laznas Dompet Dhuafa Riau are improving waqf service features, optimizing socialization, and increasing the development of long-term projects.
