Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the learning process and improve mathematics learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of VIID SMPN 1 Singingi Hilir class subject subjects 2018/2019 Academic Year totaling 12 people. This research procedure is a cycle of activities consisting of two cycles, each of which the cycle includes planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. Instrument Data collection in this study is a matter of evaluation in the form of daily test questions I and II at the end of the cycle and observation sheets for students and teachers. The results of this study shows that the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve student learning outcomes of the VIID class that is from cycle I to cycle II by 33.33% where in this first cycle only 6 people or 50% of the 12 students reached KKM > 70 and in the second cycle achieved an increase of 33.33% or 10 students who completed so it increased to 83.33%. Based on the above research conclusions can be drawn that an increase in student learning outcomes in class VIID SMPN 1 Singingi Hilir in the eye mathematics lessons on social arithmetic material through applying the Problem Based model Learning. Suggestions relating to the results of this study are: Schools should applying PBL models to mathematics learning to support the learning process in the classroom so students are required to be more active. The teacher needs to add an explanation, knowledge and information about the material taught beforehand in order to be able to increase students absorption and help students know more about uses the material taught and also makes students more motivated to learn. Teacher it should also create students to be more active in learning. Apperception activities and motivation needs to be done to encourage student enthusiasm during the teaching and learning process take place.
