Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning process and improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII-B SMP Negeri 1 Pangkalan Lesung’s through the applying of the Problem Based Learning (PBL). The subjects were students of class VIII-B SMP Negeri 1 Pangkalan Lesung in 2019/2020 Academic Year which consisted of 15 female and 14 male students with heterogen academic ability. The research is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted collaboration between teachers and researchers. Actions performed in 2 cycles with each cycle consisting of 4 meetings and 1 meeting for tests. The instruments of study were test and observation sheet. The results of the study obtain an avarange students learning outcomes in cycle I was 54,86 with classical comletness 24,14%. The average student learning outcomes in cycle II is 72,72 with 51,72% classical compltness. This is seen to increased compared to the student’s base score before action, namely with average of 53.69 classical compltness of 17,24%. It can be conclude, Application of PBL models can improve the learning process and improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII-B SMP Negeri 1 Pangkalan Lesung.
