Abstract

Drilling is an activity carried out to achieve the planned targets and drilling mud is a material that is very important if there is a drilling process, so the mud must be considered the value of the rheology of the mud to match the condition of the wellbore. One of the efforts to regulate the rheology of mud can be by using CMC (Carboxymethyl Cellulose) additives which are useful for viscosity and binding of water. This research uses CMC made from organic, namely TKKS (Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch), which is expected to be a substitute for the CMC TKKS industry. CMC TKKS has been tested for EDS to find out its composition. The TKKS used by the tenera type are taken from PT. Indonesian Ekadura in Riau Province Rokan Hulu District, Kunto Darussalam Subdistrict In this study, testers used CMC TKKS and CMC industries as a comparison to look for viscosity values, plastic viscosity, yield points, gel strength, mud cake and drilling mud filtration volume with compositions in each mud sample 2 gr, 4 gr, 6 gr, 8 gr, and 10 gr. After the EDS testing at FMIPA Istitut Teknologi Bandung was obtained the composition of Carbon (C) and Oxygen from CMC TKKS with a percentage of 58.85% and 41.15%. After testing at the Riau Islamic University Laboratory on the value of the rheology plastic viscosity and the yield point that is capable of not approaching the industry standard, it is in the 8 gr and 10 gr mud samples.
