Abstract
To drive the motor at the ESP pump, electricity is needed. Electricity will flow through the delivery medium, which is cable. The cable used is AWG (American Wire Gauge) cable with large diameter. In addition, the cable used is also a type of cable that must be resistant to high temperatures. The choice of cable type must be in accordance with the conditions in the well, if the cable used is not in accordance with the conditions of the well it will cause damage to the equipment at ESP. The research method used is the Field Research method with data collection techniques carried out is secondary data, which uses well production data provided by field supervisors, petroleum engineering handbooks, papers and discussions with supervisors. The purpose of this study is to determine how much power and voltage are lost along the ESP cable when given current from the surface to the electric motor in the production well and determine the use of a more favorable cable between AWG1 and AWG4. The results of the evaluation in this study indicate that for wells that have a depth of less than 576 ft it would be more beneficial to use AWG4 cable. As for wells that have depths above 3243 ft using AWG1 cable. Because, for shallow wells when using AWG1 will cause waste, in terms of the price of cables and specs needed by the motor.
