Abstract

Marriage is a process that many people look forward to to perfect their life. Maintaining a marital relationship is very important for husband and wife, especially husband and wife who work, husband and wife who play an important role or actively pursue career and family life simultaneously. The interests or needs of every day in the household make it important. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia, it brought a different and unpredictable situation in family life. Economic and psychological problems as well as the increasing burden of domestic work due to the concentration of activities at home are stressors in married life during the Covid-19 pandemic. Various problems that arise in work partners must be able to be resolved properly and appropriate strategies are needed. Therefore, good emotional intelligence and appropriate strategies are needed. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and strategies for working partners. The subjects of this study were 100 people from the southern pujud sub-district, Rokan Hilir district, Riau. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling method. The data collection method uses an emotional intelligence scale compiled by Lamen, 1997) developed by Rembulan (Anggi, 2021) with a total of 25 items and a strategy scale compiled by Kumala (2013) with a total of 30 items. Data analysis using Spearman correlation where the results show a significant correlation coefficient with a value of 0.306 (p < 0.01). From these results, it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and strategies. In accordance with the terms of acceptance or rejection of the hypothesis as stated above, the hypothesis is accepted.
