Abstract
The research entitled the design and development of a centrifugal system potato peeler was made based on the results of a survey on the potato chip business for the process of stripping ± 50 kg of potatoes / day takes 4 hours with 2 workers. This of course becomes a problem, namely time and energy, so the development of a tool designed to facilitate the process of stripping the skin of potatoes is designed. The innovation that was designed was a potato peeler made with a centrifugal system using an electric motor drive machine Alternating Current (AC). After making the machine, further testing of the production capacity that can be produced by a potato peeler machine. The results of the design produce specifications of length 49 cm, width 79 cm, and height 100 cm. The production capacity of potato peeling machine is 64.28 kg / hour. The source of the engine drive is an electric motor with a power of 0.25 HP and a rotation of 1468 rpm. The transmission system uses a Vbelt type A-43 with a shaft diameter of 1.2 cm, and bearing type UC204-12.
