Abstract
Psychological well being is described as a result of one’s evaluation of him/herself that affected by the experience and expectation. Elderly is tend to have a pschological problem like depression, loneliness, lack of enthusiasm, etc because their condition. Elderly that have faith in Islam or a muslim usually begin to focus on his/her spiritual aspect in their life, it can be seen from their activity example begin to praying at the mosque, engaged in social and religious activities. And as we know, spirituality can bring a good impact on one’s mental and physical health. This study is a qualitative-descriptive research. The population in this research is 50 elderly that domiciled in Pekanbaru. This study using total sampling method 57 elderly in Pekanbaru. The data of this study taken with the scale of psychological well-being. With valid items over 57 items and coefficient of alpha cronbach realibility is 0.916. Analysis method that used in this study is stastic descriptive percentation. Result of this study is most of elderly or 54 percent (27 individual) reveal that their psychological well-being is in very high category. And the rest of them is in high category with percentation in the amount of 46 percent or 23 elder. From six dimension of psychological well-being that researched : self-acceptance, positive relation with others, authority, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and personal growth, only personal growth that the most of subject is in medium category, while the rest is in high category with percentation of 6 percent or 3 subject. The conclusion by reading the description and data is the psychological well-being of elderly in Pekanbaru that actively do five times prayer at the Mosque is very high, it might be linked with high category of psychological well-being in their’s.
