Abstract

Learning activities in schools and universities throughout Indonesia have been suspended, as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 4 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Educational Policies in the Emergency Period for the Spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19). Students must adapt to a new system that has several challenges in its implementation. This causes the mental health of students to be disturbed, including stress. Academic stress is said to be the result of demands related to academics that exceed the abilities that exist in the individual. This study aims to find out how the description of academic stress during the online learning period of students of the Faculty of Psychology at the Islamic University of Riau. The researcher first conducted the sample selection process using Accidental Sampling with a total of 104 subjects. This study uses the PAS (perception academic stress) scale with a total of 18 items. The results of this study based on stress levels were in the moderate category with 45 subjects from 104 subjects. However, based on the aspect of academic expectations, they are in the low category with 45 subjects from 104 subjects, the demands for lectures and exams are in the low category with 42 subjects out of 104 subjects, and aspects of students' academic self-perception are in the low category with 36 subjects from 104 subjects.
