Abstract

The development of the forestry and plantation industries as well as transmigration resulted in the effect on forests marked by changes in the closure of forested land to non-forested. The purpose of this study is to recommend strategies and directions of change in forests in Logas Tanah Darat in 1988-2018. In this study forest deforestation is based on aspects of changes in land cover, social characteristics and citizen economic regarding behavior towards forest use. This research was conducted with the stages of identifying changes of land cover using quantitative descriptive analysis with far-sighted interpretation techniques. The social characteristics and citizen economic regarding behavior towards forest use by using quantitative descriptive analysis derived from the questionnaire. Formulating strategies and directions for controlling forest change is carried out by using the LFA approach. The results of this study indicate that the rate of change in forests in Logas Tanah Darat in the period 1988 to 1998 was 44.38%, in the period 1999 to 2008 of 39.66%, and the period 2009-2018 was 7.08%. Most of the Logas Tanah Darat are transmigrants and some are indigenous people with livelihoods dominated by the agricultural sector. Most people's income is between Rp. 5,005,000 to Rp. 8,000,000,-. The area of community plantations dominated by 1-4 hectares. Furthermore, the logframe matrix produced by the LFA analysis formulates strategies and directions for controlling forest change; (1) namely the recognition of indigenous peoples' rights in forest management; (2) reimplementing local wisdom in protecting forests; (3) creating collaborative programs to develop plantations between companies and indigenous peoples; (4) creating programs Corporate Social Responsibility that supports the economy of communities in various sectors; (5) fostering the community about how to manage plantations in an effort to increase yields; (6) and create good management in terms of community plantation management.
