Abstract

The existence of educational facilities in East Dumai Subdistrict is seen from the uneven distribution of educational facilities, this is because the distribution is only centered in the capital city of East Dumai Subdistrict. So it is necessary to analyze the distribution of facilities in East Dumai District based on the neighborhood unit approach. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the distribution of educational facilities in Dumai Timur District based on neighborhood units. This research uses descriptive quantitative and comparative descriptive methods. Quantitative descriptive methods are used to identify the distribution of educational facilities, the distance of service coverage and the accessibility of educational facilities with the neighborhood unit, the nearest neighbor analysis (spatial analysis) and spatial analysis. A comparative descriptive method is used to compare the exciting conditions with the neighborhood unit theory. Based on the results of, it was found that educational facilities subdistrict of East Dumai amounted to (forty) schools consisting of elementary, junior high, and high school /vocational schools, based on the results of the analysis of the nearest neighbors the distribution of educational facilities in the District of East Dumai tends to cluster. Based on result of spatial analysis that the distance of educational facilities in East Dumai District primary school facilities that are served by the school age population are Teluk Binjai Village(26.68), Tanjung Palas(15.45), Jaya Mukti(27.96), Buluh Kasap(9.77) and Bukit Batrem(20.15) people who reach, for junior high school age population who are served, namely Teluk Binjai Village (25.94), Tanjung Palas(20.41), Jaya Mukti(26.29), Buluh Kasap(8.79 and Bukit Batrem(18.57) affordable souls and for high school age residentswho are served are Teluk Binjai Village(28.35), Tanjung Palas(15.55), Jaya Mukti(29.25), Buluh Kasap(9.99) and Bukit Batrem(16.85) people who can be reached by the East Dumai District. As for the accessibility that educational facilities with the criteria for the location of educational facilities to the location of educational facilities (SD: 58%, SMP: 44%, SMA: 44%), distance (SD: 29%, SMP: 54%, SMA: 65%) , travel time (SD: 51%, SMP: 70%, SMA: 64%), transportation facilities (SD: 52%, SMP: 57%, SMA: 78%), level of convenience (SD: 50%, SMP: 98 %, SMA: 82%) and the physical condition of the road (SD: 93%, SMP: 98%, SMA: 93%). The suitability class of educational facilities in East Dumai Subdistrict, the very appropriate criteria are not found in educational facilities, according to there are 13 (35%) educational facilities, less appropriate there are 16 (40%) educational facilities and not suitable 11 (25%) educational facilities.
