Abstract
Brick is a building component made from a mixture of portland cement or pozolan, sand, water and other additives, made such a way as to fulfill the requirements and can be used as building materials for wall pairs. In the composition of an adobe the better the quality of its constituent materials, the better the adobe quality and strength (SNI 030349-1989). Extinguished lime is a type of lime that has a high calcium so that it has good binding capacity for use in the composition of construction materials (Ingless and Metcalf, 1992). This research used the experimental method which refers to SNI-03-0349-1989. This study uses lime as a repleacement material for cement as a part of the composition with cement composition of 0%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% in both types of sand that is Garuda Sakti Urug sand and Pangkalan cast sand. This research aims to determine the effect of the use of lime to extinguish the concrete block and to know the ratio of compressive strength produced from the two types of sand. The results obtained from this research are concrete brick using Garuda Sakti urug sand experiencing a maximum increase in compressive strength in the composition of the use of lime extinguished 10% of the weight of cement with compressive strength of 88.52 kg/cm 2 ) and decreased in the composition of 15%, 20%, and 25% but still has a high compressive strength compared to the normal brick (0% lime) and is still included in the category of brick quality requirements. Whereas for Pangkalan cast sand, the compressive strength decreased from the use of limestone 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% compared to the normal brick (0% lime). Although the compressive strength value of the normal brick is reduced, the variation in the composition of the use of lime at 10%, 15%, and 20% still fulfill the quality requirements of the established standard, which is included in the IV quality category (compressive strength 25-40 kg/cm into the category of quality II (compressive strength of 70-100 kg /cm 2 ). 2
