Abstract
Religion is a matter of belief which is able to bring salvation in the world and the hereafter. The problems related to religion may sometimes lead to conflicts between religious adherents. Especially if the religion is compared with other religions and also when it comes to matters of belief. Most of the believers convince that of the many exist religions there must be the most correct and upright religion, and it is impossible for this universe to have many Gods. So finally after finding the right religion, they commit conversion of beliefs from the old religion to the new religion or in psychology called religious conversion. This study aims to determine the self-concept of people who convert from christianiy to islam as well as factors causing religious conversion. Self-concept is an individual's opinion or perspective on himself as a whole while these perceptions can be obtained from aspects of knowledge, expectations, judgments, moral ethics, social, family, physical, and personal. While in contrast, the factors causing the conversion of religion can be viewed from the family, community environment, education, interpersonal relations and propaganda carried out by those closest to them. The informants in this study are two people who converted from Christianity to Islam. The approach used in this research is qualitative with data collection methods using interviews and observations. The result of this study indicates that the two informants have different self-concepts, influenced by environmental factors and parental education.
