Abstract

The Minas road Km 33 is one of the connecting lanes of the Minas road to the city of Pekanbaru and is a road with high accessibility with prone conditions that result in traffic damage. Seeing the total number of accidents that exist on the 33 km Minas road, road safety must be considered entirely about planning the construction of the road. The requirements for a sustainable road are (forgiving road, self explaining, and self enforcement). The method of this research was guided by the book Procedures for Geometric Planning of Inter-City Roads by the Directorate General of Highways and Public Works Regulation No. 11 / PRT / M / 2010. Geometric data was taken directly from the research location while the data is of traffic accidents in 2017-2019 obtained from the Satlantas Polres Siak Regency. The results of the survey are the motorist behavior are according to the 37% rule, the number of motorcyclists who do not wear helmets 35%, motorbikes do not turn on the lights while driving 27%, and excessive loads 1%. Based on the results the percentage of accidents in 2017 of 28 , 04%, in 2018 it was 27.10%, and in 2019 it was 44.86%. From the results of geometric analysis which is a factor influencing the cause of accidents generally caused by sub-standard road geometric conditions, between the shoulder of the road and the edge of the road has a high difference. The area of freedom next to it does not meet the requirements and is not supported by complete signs and other supporting buildings as already regulated by law Number 22 of 2009 concerning road safety, therefore this road does not include 3 sustainable road concepts (forgiving road, self explaining, and self enforcement).
